Roll on 12th July!!

Why the 12th July? Well, thats the date that I had my last radiotherapy session 12 months ago - the end of my treatment for womb cancer, so its my 1st year anniversary!

To mark the occasion, I'm holding a fundraising auction on Facebook of some of my handmade jewellery and some original artwork done by my husband.

The money will be going to Macmillan Cancer Care so I'm hoping for a good response and that we can raise a nice amount for them!

Here's your invite - so please share the link around and come along and have a look at the goodies on offer!!

Want to have a sneaky peak at one of the items in the auction?

One of my handmade necklaces with a starting bid of just £5.00 - a bargain for an original piece of jewellery! And it comes in a smart black presentation box so would be ideal as a gift!

So make a note of the date, 12th July. Auction starts at 7pm and runs till 7pm on 15th July. Please come along and help this great cause!

£400!!

A couple of weeks ago, I handed over another cheque to my lovely Macmillan nurse Morag, who is a trustee of the Bute Community Palliative Care Fund. Thats now £400 that I've raised with the help of some lovely people who have continued to support me in this project!

I'm still runing my destash sale over on Facebook - got so much craft stuff its unbelievable!! It just mounts up over the years and I've decided that now is the time to have a clear out - and make some more money for this great cause!

Incase you don't know what palliative care is - its care in the home for those who are near the end of their life and it just provides those things that help make the last few weeks/days as comfortable as possible!

Although I still fundraise for Macmillan, and also Cancer Research UK, I wanted to donate to this particular fund as, not only does the money stay here on the island but it helps people who are at the end of their life.

If you're looking for a crafty bargain then why not pop over and have a look at my destash sale - lots of goodies on offer at great prices - and all for a wonderful cause! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150123558203394.297896.78739178393

I'm still finding stuff to list so keep checking back, you never know what you might find!

£300 and counting!!

It has been around 12 months since I started fundraising for Macmillan. I had a very personal reason for starting - I was diagnosed with womb cancer in Dec 2009 and had a hysterectomy in January 2010 and started my chemo on March 2010.
Since I make jewellery as a hobby, thats what I started to sell to raise funds for this wonderful charity. Then, through meeting some of the wonderful sellers on Folksy, the fundraising snowballed as some of them offered items for sale in their own shops, donating the proceeds to my effort!
The effect was that, to date, £100 has been handed over to my local Macmillan fundraising group here on the island and a further £200 has been given direct to my wonderful Macmillan nurse, Morag, who helps admin a local palliative care fund that means that terminal or very ill patients can get access to things that will help their life become a little easier.

I just wanted to share with you some of the things that I have made which have gone towards raising this huge sum of money!
As I've said, there has also been some great support from fellow Folkster's and I'll showcase some of them in my next blog!
The Macmillan shop that I had on Folksy has now closed, but I now donate profits from my sales from my other shop to Macmillan and we are now on the way to the £400 mark!
So why not pop over and check out whats for sale - http://www.folksy.com/shops/buteartism
See you soon!
